Pastor O Donnell Receives War Decoration for WWI Service
Rev. Father J H O Donnell of St James Church is awarded the United States Government Distinguished Service Medal for a September 1918 wound while serving as a captain in the 9th Infantry and 23rd Infantry Second Division. He saw front line service nearly a year with gas attacks. He volunteered in Clinton Iowa in 1917 and was mustered out in 1919. He later served as chaplain in the 13th Town National and Officers Reserve Corps and remains a captain. His younger brother Charles F O Donnell was killed at Cambrai in 1917. He is active in the American Legion Leon Beatty post and Knights of Columbus chaplaincy duties.

Man Hurt In Three Car Collision Near Ainsworth
June 14 near the Jesse Pearson place east of Ainsworth a three car crash injured Ford Kilgore of Ainsworth. Kilgore's Standard Oil truck led a chain reaction involving a Packard driven by an Elkhart passenger and a following car driven by W H Anderson of Ainsworth. Kilgore suffered a forehead gash and back injuries. Packard occupant C H Steele had minor facial cuts.

Mrs. Margaret Geisler wife of Frank Geisler of Muscatine died suddenly at her Muscatine home on Monday afternoon according to word received by relatives. Her maiden name was McKibben and her aged mother awaits at home with her daughter. She was in her early fifties and active as finance chairman. she had many friends and was cousin to Maggie Foster and others of Washington. Funeral services were set for Wednesday at 3 30 PM at the Presbyterian church in Muscatine.

Mrs Josephine Weber 77 died at her Riverside home after a short illness. She was born in Bohemia on April 20 1855 and married Anton Weber in 1874. they lived on a farm before moving to Riverside in 1919. Death claims Brighton man in June
T L Lamansky died at his Brighton home Sunday afternoon after two years of ill health and a three month illness. Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon at the home with Rev Seitzsinger of the German Lutheran church officiating and burial in Hillcrest cemetery. He was born May 16 1856 in Walnut township Jefferson county and lived in the community his life. He married Katherine Sinn December 31 1885 and left two children Otto Lamansky of Brighton and Mrs Mabel Shuppy of four miles southeast of Brighton. He leaves a brother Peter I Lamansky and sister Mrs Mary Cowan of Denver and four brothers preceded him in death.
