County farm problems discussed at soil conservation meeting
In a countywide session excluding Brighton, about 70 people attended a soil conservation week gathering hosted by the county agricultural conservation committee. Three more daily vacation Bible schools opened in Washington on Monday bringing total in progress to seven with enrollment figures ranging from about 50 to 75 pupils per site. Eastwood starts his fifteenth such school in Washington with an initial Monday enrollment near 50.

New Minister Arrives at Grace Hill Church for Summer
David Weimland of Bethlehem Pennsylvania will arrive the latter part of the week to serve as minister at Grace Hill church for the summer months. His late father Joseph Weimland preached there several times and will be remembered by many in the community. The Ladies Aid society will meet Wednesday to clean the church in preparation for the new minister.

Major Saul Accepts Secretary Post in Algona Iowa
Major L T Saul left Washington Tuesday for Algona to assume the post of secretary of the Algona chamber of commerce. He and Mrs Saul and their three children will move as soon as they can sell or rent their Washington home at 605 East Main Street. The family has lived in Washington since August 1936, finding Washington preferable for their children's opportunities.

Frank Pulsifer aged 77 died at the county home where he had lived since 1929. Funeral services were held at the Crawfordsville Presbyterian church with Rev. N F Chapman in charge. Burial followed in Crawfordsville cemetery. He was born April 27 1861 son of George and Mary Pulsifer long a Crawfordsville family and known as Dick Pulsifer. He never married. Mabelle Herring of Ottumwa arrived to visit cousin Ida Cavender.

Funeral for Mrs. Gingerich Held in Kalona
Funeral services were held Friday at Timber Church for Mrs. Christian C. Gingerich 77 who died Wednesday from pneumonia and old age. Utah Snow Paroled After Juvenile Court Larceny Hearing
Utah Snow admitted stealing a watch from the Everett Palmer home near town and was arraigned before Judge P G Sievers in juvenile court. He was ordered to the estate industrial school for boys at Eldora but the sentence was suspended for good behavior and he was paroled to Sheriff Foss Davis of Greene County Iowa. Snow’s parents Henry and Mrs Snow of Jefferson attended the hearing in Washington where Judge Siegers planned to hold court Tuesday and Wednesday.

Miss Etta Conner 65 died at 1 30 Saturday at the home of Mrs Ada Hollingsworth on North Avenue C after several months illness. Eight Apply for CCC Enrollment in County
Miss Martha Foster, county welfare director, said eight young men have applied for enrollment in the Civilian Conservation Corps for the July quota.
