Calf Killed in Late Night Collision Near Brighton
Howard Stroud and Ray Day reported to the sheriff that around 11 pm Thursday a car two miles west of Brighton struck a calf at the Robt Balderson place. The animal was killed and the car wrecked, but both occupants were uninjured and later had the vehicle towed for repairs. They could not locate the calf owner.

T. K. Johnston reports a session before Justice of the Peace J. E. Bovee where three Washington county men faced penalties for game law violations. Don Boileau and Hugh Hazzlett of Ainsworth were fined 10 dollars each plus 3.85 dollars costs for destroying a fox den, with payment due by July 1. Anthony Kron of Riverside pleaded guilty to killing song birds and was fined 25 dollars plus 4.59 dollars costs, and paid in full. Evidence suggested Kron had killed many other birds and had been warned to stop his activities.

Duane Wade nine year old son of Mr and Mrs William J Wade of eight miles northwest of Wellman was struck by a Johnson County Creamery truck at Joetown noon yesterday. He suffered a compound fracture above the right ankle and a knee injury. he was moved from Mercy hospital to Wellman hospital where he would stay several days. He had been visiting his sister north of Joetown and was riding a store wagon with Delmar Ruegsegger when struck while crossing the road.
