J. G. Maxwell Dies Former Mayor of Washington County
Jacob George Maxwell former mayor and longtime citizen died at 410 West Washington Street Friday December 23 1932 at 6 20 PM. He served eight years on the city council two as mayor and was active in church like United Presbyterian Crawfordsville Rotary and Country Club. He is survived by his wife and daughter Lena. Funeral Monday at United Presbyterian Church with burial in Elm Grove cemetery.

The total of five dollar gifts plus others brings the final Goodfellow figure to 157.82 dollars. An extra two dollars designated one dollar to the Red Cross, and 158.82 was collected in all. Trucks delivered baskets through tough streets to Washington's needy, with a few more deliveries approved after Christmas. W P Wells funeral set for Thursday in Washington
Washington mourns William Perry Wells 78 known as W P Wells. He died Tuesday night at Washington county hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services are Thursday at 2 pm from Sherman funeral home, Dr W W Eastwood to officiate. Interment in Ela Grove cemetery. Wells long served on bank boards and supported the Washington county hospital and Wellston railroad station was named for him. He married Clara Combs in 1882 and celebrated his golden wedding anniversary in 1932. Surviving: his wife, a sister, daughter Stella Latchem, a grandson Charles Latchem, several nieces and nephews.

Lena now Mrs Roy Tripp of Sioux City is his daughter with three grandchildren Mary Frances George Maxwell Richard Carleton. Maxwell enjoyed family visits each fall and cherished his grandchildren. For two years his wife cared for him at home, and he remained devoted to his house until death. Washington loses a fine citizen of the old school raised by Christian parents who guided him.

Crawfordsville Woman Mrs Isabella Kelsey Dies at 88
Mrs Isabella Kelsey of Crawfordsville died Wednesday night December 21 at 10 30 after an illness of three weeks. Born June 2 1844 in Washington county Pa she moved to Crawfordsville as a child and lived there most of her life. Funeral services were held Friday at the United Presbyterian church with burial in Crawfordsville cemetery. She was married twice, first to Mahlon Parke and later to James Kesley.

Glendale School Damaged by Fire
A fire damaged the Glendale school house injuring a floor area with a large hole. Gregory Smith spotted the blaze about ten o clock Monday night and helped rouse the community. Snake Found in Bananas At Thompson Market
A two foot snake discovered in a banana crate at the Thompson market drew interest from owner Stanley Thompson who mistook it for a spoiled fruit. Described as a baby boa constrictor by library references it is kept in a box on display. The reptile’s origin is unknown though considered foreign.

Roudabush Named New County Agent for Wayne County
William J. Roudabush, previously Wayne County Farm Bureau agent at Corydon for three years, will become the new county agent here succeeding Harold J. Montgomery who resigns to take a Story County post. Roudabush, a 1920 Iowa State College graduate from Brooklyn, will start January 16 after Montgomery leaves January 6.
