Ward Residence Fire Damages Home on East Polk
A fire Tuesday about 11 30 morning damaged the Ward residence at 305 East Polk street. The attic and part of the roof burned while water and smoke caused extensive damage upstairs. Mrs. Ward found the blaze and suspects the attic as the origin. downstairs goods were saved. Firemen stayed through the afternoon to prevent further outbreaks. Owner Harry C. Ward carried insurance on building and contents.

Youth Arrested in Washington for Auto Theft
A 15 year old youth, who appeared younger, was arrested Monday by Night Marshal Karl Jackson in possession of a stolen 1936 Oldsmobile. He gave two conflicting names, George Groves of Davenport and Terry McWrite, claiming the car belonged to his father or a ride partner. the car was reported stolen from Davenport Motor Company. Washington police expect Davenport officers to retrieve the vehicle.
