Breaks Shoulder in Automobile Crash Near Washington
Judy Schmidt suffered a fractured left collar bone and shoulder blade in a Friday night crash about 40 miles east of Washington on Highway No. 2. He also had a two inch cut on the right lower jaw and bruises. hospitalized at Washington County Hospital after the midnight accident. The car left the pavement, crossed a ditch and fence, overturning after the driver glanced at the instrument panel and at an oncoming car.

A large hay barn at the L A Guy farm near Sandy Hook was destroyed by fire along with 100 tons of new hay and several thousand feet of lumber. The fire also scorched three straw stacks and 30 bushels of oats, but nearby buildings were spared. The loss, partly insured, occurred while the family was away at a reunion. Brighton fire units assisted but could not save the barn.
