Forty six cows were tested for tuberculosis with no signs of disease found. Dr. Brossard, State Veterinarian from Ashland, conducted the tests, with two more sessions planned for next Monday and Tuesday at Jensen livery barn on West Bayfield Street.
Washburn City prepares for the football season with a fast lineup for the first game against Ashland Sun on October 2. The team has been practicing signals and features many veteran players. Poor lighting at the baseball grounds has prompted night practice as games are scheduled.
The Washburn city pawn went to Iron River Tuesday morning to play at the county fair venue during the last two days. Visitors to the fair enjoyed the music rendered by the band.

A Bayfield Owls team defeated Washburn 18 to 9 in a seven inning baseball game played Sunday afternoon in the city. Bayfield featured largely young players while Washburn relied on veteran stars who could not return after a rough start.
