Emma Cassody Held for Federal Trial on Postal Law Violation

Emma Cassody alias Cassady appeared before U S Court Commissioner C A Lamoreaux in Ashland on charges of violating postal laws by sending obscene mail. Bail set at $1000. she remained jailed in Dane County awaiting grand jury action next month.

Editress Goss Burned by Gasoline Accident

Ida May Goss editor of the Spooner Advocate suffered severe burns to her face hand and body after gasoline spilled while fueling a stove ignited near a wood heater. Her seven year old son helped extinguish the flames before Dr Lemmer and nurse Miss Cameron treated her. she remains confined for weeks.

Port Wing Harbor Improvement Plans Announced

Captain D D Guillard of the U S engineer corps disclosed plans to improve Port Wing Harbor on Lake Superior. A $50000 appropriation was set with ground donated by property owners, enabling pier and related work. Port Wing, 35 miles from Duluth, a key lumber port, will see piers at Superior entry with 65000 barrels of Portland cement to be furnished for construction.
