Deer Hunters Celebrate Fourth Anniversary of Sure Shot Lodge

The Sure Shot hunting lodge in Cranberry country marked its fourth anniversary with a large gathering including Phil Hagen walking from Superior. Chief Engineer Hirst reports Wisconsin will build 3,764.1 miles of roads this year with concrete 340 miles gravel 1072 miles top soil 84 miles earth 1009 miles and maintenance 1204 miles plus 72 miles miscellaneous. Bridge work is strong with 540 bridges planned at a total cost of 2,245,100 dollars and 14 733 feet of span. If federal aid ends early next year surveys and overhead may be cut.

Deer season toll reaches seven in Wisconsin woods

Five men died and two were wounded as deer hunting casualties rose to seven in the north woods. Four deaths occurred after hunters fired first, mistaking victims for game.
