Fur trapping opens in county as season begins

Unidentified Man Found Dead By Bay Shore
A man about forty, weight nearly 200 pounds, with his right arm severed at the elbow, was found on the bay shore near the old Jacobs mill Friday afternoon. Discovered by Isaac Gage, the body showed it had been in the water for weeks. Remains were taken to Esta brook & Olson. burial occurred Monday. No identification could be made in this city or Ashland.

The weatherman warned of a harsh spell with rain and snow from Friday into Tuesday. A northeast blizzard dumped heavy snow though warm conditions melted much, disrupting train service for days while western areas faced one of the worst storms in years with 12 inches to 36 inches of snow.
More Soda Coming Steamer Dalton Brings Nit rate to City
The Dalton arrived with 2265 tons of nit rate of soda for the dynamite plant. It will be loaded into cars and shipped to the plant. The Dalton is first of three ships, with the Plant and the Lambert due over the next two weeks. The soda travels from Chile to Montreal then by small boats to this city, a lengthy, costly journey.

Accident on Soda Boat Injures West Third Street Worker
Christ Lund of West Third Street was badly hurt at work on a soda boat yesterday morning. While loading sacks in the hold, a derrick failed as it raised a load, the cable slipping and sacks striking Lund, dislocating his hip. The sacks weighed nearly a ton per load.
