The Stearns mill in this city is expected to run a full cut next season with four timber camps planned. First Hunting Accident in Iron River Season 1913
Andrew Moreau, 22, was shot in the leg by companion Miles O Neil while hunting near Iron River. The shot passed through the right knee cap and Moreau was taken to St. Joseph hospital in Ashland where doctors fear the leg may not be saved. The incident serves as a warning on gun safety in the woods. A new porch was built for the Cumberland House by James A. Sheridan and crew.

City Faces $5000 Verdict in Carlson Case
Jury in circuit court awarded Mary Carlson administratrix of Fred Carlson the sum of $5000 against the city of Washburn for a fatal fall on Bayfield street last summer. The verdict followed a week-long trial and will be appealed to the state Supreme Court. Carlson died from injuries after falling twelve feet from a railing near the Peter Rude barber shop. The city contends Carlson sat on the railing and that the railing was in good repair, blaming Carlson's own negligence. Attorneys E. C. Alvord represented the city while McCloud and Pierelle of Ashland appeared for the plaintiff.
