County Bill Killed by Assembly Committee in Madison

A Wisconsin bill to create a Park Falls area county from Price Ashland Bayfield and Sawyer counties was killed by a unanimous vote for indefinite postponement in the Assembly Committee on counties. Opposed by most northern residents, Bayfield and Price counties led the fight with petitions and data showing negative impacts. The move ends any immediate chance for a new county this session.

Washburn Amends Milk and Cream Ordinance to Substitute Exhibit

The Washburn Common Council amends Section 3 of the 1910 ordinance on regulating milk and cream sales. The change replaces the word Deliver with Exhibit in licensing, requiring applicants to Exhibit to the City Clerk with their application. The amendment takes effect upon passage and publication.
