Iron River Fire Destroys Dozen Business Buildings
A major blaze swept through Iron River early Tuesday, originating in the American House on Main Street and destroying about half the east side stores. The inferno burned into the Max Happle bakery, Louis Sand clothing, Charles Martin saloon, and the Northern Hotel among others, with losses approaching 100000 dollars. Firefighters and volunteers fought the flames, calling in help from Superior, and the town plans to rebuild.

Mrs Jane Newell Boyd longtime Ashland resident died Monday evening at St Joseph hospital following a long illness. She had been ill since Saturday and lived on East Fourth Street. Her remains were taken to Chesshire Connecticut for burial in the family lot with her parents.

Funeral services for Henry A. Oscar who died last Wednesday after a year with tuberculosis were held Friday afternoon at 2 o clock from the T A Oscar residence.
