E W Edgerley longtime Washburn resident died at his home after a pneumonia illness. Funeral held Tuesday morning with burial in Medford. He left a wife, a son and a daughter, and had owned the local flowing well. He had long been in business here and farmed near the city last year. E H Ludwig ends his tenure at the saloon he ran for some time.

Burning Church Arrest Leads to Trial Bound Over
John Feldt of Madeline Island is under arrest and bound over to the circuit court on an incendiary charge after the old church on the island burned the morning of the tenth inst. He was reportedly intoxicated that night and Ashland County authorities handle the case.

County Jail Quarantined Over Smallpox Case
Owing to a smallpox case the county jail is under quarantine with the residence section excluded. Eight burglars, brought from Iron River, include a case from Saturday night and were moved to the pest house. Municipal Court examination began Saturday and was adjourned to Monday, delaying potential trials.
