William Day of West Bayfield Street suffered a severe lath mill accident at Steans mill yesterday afternoon. While feeding a lath machine his hand was caught in the feed rollers, pulled into the saws, and the hand and forearm were torn. He was taken to Ashland hospital where doctors amputated his arm four inches below the elbow.
A meeting of engineers and committees to study the bay road question met yesterday at Ashland. They submitted figures for a new Fish Creek bridge at 10,810 and the canal road at 6,658. The county board will review the reports at its upcoming session.
The Young Peoples' Society of the Swedish Lutheran Church will be entertained by Mrs. Chas. Taber man at her home this evening. Refreshments cost 10 cents. Everyone invited. Henry Strecker remains at Rhinehardt hospital ill with pneumonia.
