The Woodmen of the World Women's Circle hosts a dancing party at Garden Hall on Saturday evening January 29. Doors will open with reserved lights and a good time is promised for all attendees.
Mrs D G Gardner of Chicago is visiting the city with her husband who holds a contract to erect boiler tanks and smoke stacks at the DuPont plant.
A mass meeting at the Norwegian Lutheran church Sunday at two o clock will boost efforts to enforce the treaty prohibiting liquor on ceded lands. Rev J H McManus of Odanah leads the drive and will speak along with other leaders. organizers plan petitions, fundraising, and a delegation to Washington to press for enforcement.
The Washburn News & Item izer purchased a Model Kay linotype machine that has arrived and will be installed when a company representative arrives. The new machine is described as a dandy type and should be a big asset in the News office.
Mrs A V Sweet has been very ill with bronchial pneumonia and remains in a serious condition.
The Washburn Commercial Club partners with the University of Wisconsin Extension Division and the Wisconsin Anti tuberculosis Association to hold a three day Community Institute starting Wednesday. J P O Connor leads the event with gatherings each morning afternoon and evening for school children women farmers and business men. Washburn aims to set a regional example as the first Lake Shore city to host this program.

Napolean Rabideau a famed Bayfield county logger was killed in Russell when a log rolled from the skidway crushing him instantly. He was about fifty five and leaves a wife and three children who reside in Canada.
Telegram received Sunday morning announced James Powderly died in Tacoma Washington Saturday morning January 22 from a general breakdown of health. Powderly an early local resident long active in westward life was well known in the city and had resided there for years.
Judge James McCaulley of Ashland traveled to the city as a business visitor last Friday.
