Fall of Milton A. Sprague Noted Banker and Lumberman
Milton Allen Sprague died Saturday at his daughter Mrs. B A Wiechmann's home after a long illness. The 73 year old Minneapolis area banker and lumberman was born in Arcadia New York on October 29 1843 and spent years in Idaho Nevada Iowa Wisconsin and Minnesota. He helped found the Northern State Bank of Washburn Wisconsin and owned lumber yards in multiple states. Funeral services were held Monday at the Wiechmann residence with Masons and Knight Templars in attendance. His body was sent to Lakewood Cemetery Minneapolis. He is survived by his wife a son Monroe H Sprague and daughter Mrs. B A Wiechmann.

Washburn Man Wins Remodeling Contract at Court House
Anton Johnson of Washburn awarded the contract for remodeling the circuit court room by the Committee on Buildings and Grounds with the lowest bid of 3564.00. Furnishings contract goes to Scott Taylor Co. of Ashland for 2485.00. Work must be finished by April 20 to be ready for May term. Johnson plans immediate start and substantial room reconfiguration with oak paneling and improved acoustics.

Washburn declines Lincoln Chautauqua offer this year
The Lincoln Chautauqua representative visited Washburn this week but was declined as Bayfield already runs a summer Chautauqua. The Commercial Club and officials opposed a $1 000 guarantee, preferring the Wisconsin state University Chautauqua or patronage of Bayfield’s enterprise. The representative left town satisfied he could not secure the guarantee. Secretary Heermans and the Woman's Council agreed with the stance.

Ashland Basketball Team Prepares for Michigan Trip
