Court Play Plunges Bayfield Road Fight Into Two Courts
In Madison two courts hear the Washburn Bayfield & Iron River Railroad dispute. In federal court Judge Bunn and Judge Jenkins continue contempt proceedings against Bayfield county figures led by District Attorney A. W. McLeod over a writ to tear up the main line. The state supreme court weighs a prerogative writ to allow the attorney general to sue Receiver Frost and halt destruction of tracks. The case centers on bonds, receivership, and the race between federal orders and state control.
