Wm Olson starts Saturday for Portland Oregon to attend to business connected with his timber holdings. He expects to be away about two and a half months and will return to close his affairs in this city before making his home permanently in the West. Olson has lived in the city twenty three years and engaged broadly in business.
The article notes his broad interest in public enterprises and warns that his removal from the city would be a severe loss to the local business life.
Grand Entertainment presents The Viking Singing Society of Ashland directed by Nels Yderstad in a concert at the Norwegian Lutheran Church on Wednesday evening March 6. A chorus of about thirty trained male voices will perform. Tickets cost 25 cents for adults and 15 cents for children at O Davidson's shoe store. E J Delwiche of the North Wisconsin Sub Stations and a University agricultural staff member will speak at the Town Hall on March 2. He will cover soil management dairy farming and orchard care in three lectures with discussions to follow. The event invites all progressive farmers to attend. George F Morgan travels to Madison for the Supervisors of Assessments annual session, returning in about a week.
Thirty-two Washburn men and eight Duluth men will depart by special car to Tacoma Washington to work for the DuPont Dynamite company on a large plant under construction. John Bergstrom will oversee much of the work at the new facility expected to rival the nearby plant.
Several gatherings mark a busy social week with Phonograph and dancing parties, aprons and crystal showers, a masquade flinch event, and birthday celebrations. Marriage notices include Nels M Ness and Thea Jahren wed at a Swedish Mission church and Annie Anderson to Martin Peterson with local families in attendance.

Harry Anderson an Omaha railroad employee had a narrow escape last Friday when he fell from a switch engine his foot becoming caught under the cow catcher. The engine was raised with jacks to free him. Dr Spears attended the injured man and he was taken to Chippewa Falls home.
A Chicago mail order representative told Iowa editors that advertising drives mail order success. He warned merchants to advertise in up-to-date fashion, noting that targeting towns with poor advertising floods them with literature and yields results. He urged clear ads describing products and prices as a curb to mail order competition.
Rev. U S Villars pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal Church Superior will speak at both services next Sunday March 3 at the Methodist Church in this city. He is a noted Illinois and Kansas preacher and current President of the Civic League of Superior which has led reform gains in Washburn. He will discuss what has been done and how it was achieved at the evening service inviting all interested in Washburn.

The town of Barksdale seeks official creation by a Circuit Court order after petitions meet legal requirements. Petitioners’ attorney A W McLeod says documents are ready and Judge Parish will hear the matter when available. Protests may arise from residents inside and outside the proposed territory, possibly delaying the process.
The North Wisconsin Farmers Association holds its annual meeting in Hurley next Tuesday March 5th. President McGeehan and Secretary Fairall prepare for a large gathering and President Maxcy will deliver a detailed executive budget report. Many members from here are expected to attend.
Miss May Graham daughter of Mrs. John Graham died Sunday at home after long illness. Suffering from typhoid fever this winter she never fully rallied. At age fifteen she leaves her parents a sister and two brothers. Burial followed in the Public cemetery.
