Fred Werner of Waterloo won the state prize for highest score overall. Bayfield, the district’s youngest county, clinched district victory, boosting local pride. Hansen’s reputation from Iron River precedes his win at the district meet.

Mrs Ella Gunderson Dies After Illness in DuPont Park
Mrs Ella Gunderson aged 24 years 7 months of DuPont Park died Tuesday after a weeklong illness with influenza and pneumonia. A private funeral was held at her residence by Rev Christiansen, then the body was taken to Cottonwood Minnesota for burial. She leaves a husband and two children aged about two and four.

Bayfield County agriculture shows a 1919 value excess of 463,594 over 1918, driven mainly by 16 principal crops despite under 4 percent growth in planted area. The 1919 Legislature also enacted a dog license law to promote sheep farming in northern counties, setting license fees of 3 dollars for males and 5 dollars for females, with assessors paid 20 cents per dog listed.
