Ashland Bank Closes Under Bank Examiner Action
The Security Savings Bank of Ashland was closed by the Bank Examiner last Saturday. The Ellis family ran the bank for years with small savings deposits paying four percent, holding about 109000 dollars in deposits. A run reduced deposits by around 50000 dollars recently and the bank is now in receiver Ellis Kenedy's hands. Depositors are expected to recover most funds but liquidation will take time.

James Sands Dies After Three Weeks Illness
James Sands died Sunday morning in this city from a brain hemorrhage after a three week illness. He was forty nine and father of Mrs. Louis Anderson and Miss Sadie Sands. The funeral was held at the Methodist church yesterday at two o clock and he was buried in Washburn cemetery.
