Farmers Plan New Cooperative Creamery in Washburn Area
About 35 farmers from Washburn Bayview and Barksdale met at the Commercial Club to organize a cooperative creamery. Officers elected were Chairman Harvey Irish and Secretary C F Bogenrief. A survey of stock and cow availability showed 88 cows and 91 shares signed, with more than 1 200 cows in the region expected to feed the venture. Ed Thoreson a local druggist was fined 100.00 and costs by Judge H P Axelberg after pleading guilty to selling intoxicating liquor without a prescription. District Attorney Morris led the case based on information from Len Wilcox, a minor arrested for breaking into City Drug Store. Thoreson said Wilcox claimed flu symptoms justified the sale for medicinal purposes and that this was his first offense.
