Asa Willey Nets Rare Silver Grey Fox Prize
Asa Willey, a Cranberry country hunter, captured a rare silver grey fox worth three to eight hundred dollars. After seeing the fox enter a hollow log, he and a companion blocked the entrance and chopped the animal out. The fox was shot through the jaw to prevent escape. the pelt is described as valuable and rare in the United States.

Trainmen Ball Huge Success at Washburn Charity Ball
The Washburn Y M C A charity ball by the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen drew about 180 couples and nearly 340 dollars in ticket sales. Great Record of Guernsey Cows in Local Association
The Chequamegon Guernsey Association reports all cows tested above 5.5 butterfat with top records at months nine five and one. Mayflower Walnutdale posted 40.86 butterfat in the ninth month at Will Lloyd farm. Daisy Paysons 50.45 pounds in the fifth month at Joyce farm. Rival Rosetta 44.76 pounds in the fifth month at Mihalisk's. Richess Hose 48.67 pounds in the first month. The group plans more tests as they build a premier Guernsey herd across local farms.

Local ice harvest to begin with two firms operating
The annual ice harvest starts this week with workers preparing supplies for next season. The ice on the bay averages twenty to twenty two inches in thickness due to weather conditions. Two companies, Pratt Ice Company and Levi Stefinski, will operate in the city this season, selling clear blue ice with little snow ice.

Culver Hotel in Ashland Suffers Major Fire Damage
Six rooms at the Culver Hotel in Ashland were badly damaged by fire and water on Monday afternoon. A passerby noticed flames, firemen confined the blaze to the rear roof, and the rest of the hotel remained undamaged.
