Papers in 40000 Suit Against City

Papers in a 40000 suit against the city of Washburn were filed with City Clerk L N Clausen by attorneys McCloud and Pierelle of Ashland who represent the estate of Fred Carlson. The suit claims Carlson died from injuries after falling from a railing into a ravine at Bayfield street and 5th avenue, alleging the railing was defective and unsafe and that the city is liable. The accident occurred June 22, 1912, around midnight. Carlson died July 28 following hospital treatment.

Treasurer Nels Lee says the city has collected over 35000 in taxes this year, with 1057.48 from income tax.
