Bayfield County Exposition Booth Earns High Praise at Milwaukee

Bayfield County Exhibit at the Wisconsin Products Exposition in Milwaukee drew praise from managing director Spearman Lewis for its attractive display of grains grasses honey fruit flowers vegetables and more. County Agent W E Brubaker coordinated the booth answering visitors questions while distributing pamphlets highlighting Bayfield Peninsula fruit industries and strawberry production. The event ran December 14 to 20 and the county plans to return with even greater display next year.

Reverend S W Ingham Dies at 85 in Wis Home

Rev S W Ingham died early Wednesday at the Masonic Home in Poulman Wisconsin aged 85. A Methodist minister for sixty years he formerly worked among the Dakota and Minnesota Indians and served as presiding elder in those states. His wife preceded him in death and no near relatives survive. Funeral services will be held at the Home with burial in Ottawa Cemetery.

The Du Pont Club hosted a Monday Christmas party for members, spouses, and children, drawing 582 guests. The evening featured High School Glee Club songs, recitations, readings, and a Santa Claus appearance with candy sacks, followed by dancing, games, and bowling in a festive climax.

Fred Strong Dies After Lingering Illness at 60

Fred Strong, 60, longtime city resident and truck garden pioneer near the Bayfield road, died Tuesday after a lengthy illness of rheumatism and other diseases. A German Lutheran church funeral will be held Friday afternoon with interment in Woodland Cemetery. Born in Kentucky, he lived here over 35 years and left many friends. He was single with a brother and two sisters whose whereabouts are unknown.

County Fair Prizes Paid to Schools and Teachers

Premiums for school exhibits at the county fair have been paid through the County Superintendent of Schools. Bayfield city grades received 10 prizes totaling 10.50 under principal W R Mitchell. Ondossagon high school 2 prizes 2.50 for H M Nelson. Ondossagon state graded school 13 prizes 11.25 for Mrs O E Palm. Moore school Barnes 2 prizes 1.75 for Mrs Minnie Hartley. Washington school Oulu 1 prize 0.75 for Miss Constance Wells. Exhibits with premium tags were returned to teachers who hold lists and will distribute funds. Other schools had premiums paid directly to the schools or principals.

Kinney Dies as Bayfield County Officials Change

State Senator Kinney died at Superior as Bayfield County prepares to swear in new officers. John Froseth will become Clerk of the Circuit Court succeeding Frederick Bell, and John A McDonald will take over as Sheriff from Andy Murray. John J Fisher will be District Attorney replacing Charles Morris. Incumbents Jake Yderstad Randall W. Smith Nels Myhre Amos Hansen Winfield Tripp will continue in their posts. Kinney Bank Leader Dies After Stroke in Superior

Ole G. Kinney president of Community Savings Bank and state senator elect from the Eleventh district died at Good Samaritan hospital in Superior at 3 AM after a lingering illness from a paralytic stroke suffered during his campaign. He was 64, leaving a wife four daughters and two sons. His death alters Senate control balance as anti administration forces gain a one vote edge. vacancy to be filled by a special election in the Eleventh district including Douglas Bayfield Washburn and Burnet counties. He had moved from Colfax Dane County to Eau Claire and Superior, was a former assemblyman, and belonged to Masons Elks Sons of Norway Vasa and Scandinavian American fraternities.

Fund Aims To Buy Radio For Pureair Sanatorium Patients

A fund is started to raise 100 dollars in each of three counties to purchase a radio set for Pureair Sanatorium near Bayfield. Contributions left at Washburn banks will be forwarded to the fund to reach the goal and provide refreshing amusement for patients.
