Bradley Whiting Dies in Milwaukee After Typhoid Fever

Bradley Whiting a former Washburn resident died in Milwaukee last Sunday morning from typhoid fever. He had lived in Iron River and worked for Alexander & Edgar Lumber and Pioneer Coal before becoming Milwaukee general manager of Pioneer Coal. His funeral in Iron River drew many friends from the area.

Probert Comes to Light in California Arrest Warrant

A warrant was issued in Santa Cruz for Dr. Arthur C. Probert alias Clarence R. Davis a Ben Lomond banker merchant on charges of swearing falsely to his name in a marriage license affidavit. He is accused of wrecking a Dayton Oregon bank and has a history as a fugitive from justice pursued after a Chicago trip. The case ties him to C R Davis & Co and Ben Lomond News.

Canadian Jubilee Singers to Return for Benefit

The Canadian Jubilee Singers will play in Washburn on January 17 to benefit the church, with 50 percent of gross receipts donated. The usual Sunday services occur next Sunday with Junior League at 3 30 pm and Mr Mills assisting in preaching.

His family will remain until school ends next June when they will join him. He serves 450 to 500 lumber workers under yearly contracts and has supported church and social work.

Creamery Project Starts After Commercial Club Purchase

A. R. Kinney of Ottawa Minnesota will invest over 3000 in a new creamery to be built on lots 1 and 2 in block 68 purchased by the Commercial Club from John Walsh. Construction to begin March 1 with a 22 by 50 foot modern building and an ice house to store season ice. Kinney has already bought the machinery to be installed upon completion.

Knights of the Maccabees Host New Year Dance at Opera House

A Knights of the Maccabees committee plans a grand Hard Time Dance at the Opera House on New Year's night expecting to outshine previous events.
