County Board Holds a Day's Meeting and Elects Morgan
The county board met last Tuesday to approve bills and settlements, exhausting the general levy and risking no further pay day for a year unless borrowing is arranged. George F. Morgan won the eight-ballot election for supervisor of assessors, replacing Judge W H Trish. The board also addressed the Battle Axe road and hired H H Hayden as county counsel at $50 per day plus expenses. Neighboring items note a potential new independent telephone line led by A W Bryant to connect Washburn with Bayfield Ashland and other towns.
