An adjourned common council meeting at the Commercial Club set the city tax levy for the coming year. Total taxes to raise 43 397 44 with state county school library and bond interests listed. the tax rate will match last year despite a slightly lower city valuation.
F. W. Downs has rented the Washburn Opera House and will assume full management. The venue will be completely rewired for safety and improvements planned. It will be rented for shows basketball games dances meetings and more.

Mrs. Ole Ramstead and Sam Veno suffered bad bruises after a team of Olson ponies ran away near the J. S. Fletcher feed store. The accident occurred on Bayfield street when a buggy overturned while en route to fetch Mrs. Ramstead from the Olson cottage. Both injuries were serious but not life threatening.
The Kenfield Lamoreaux company saw mill resumed operation on Monday due to a large bolt material supply. Officials expect steady running throughout the winter months.
A Wisconsin Dean praises Bayfield and Ashland counties for approving 1000 dollars to build a short course agriculture school at Ashland Junction. The letter from H L Russell notes strong county backing will advance regional agricultural development and offers a three week course to start.
