County agent announces T N T powder distribution to Bayfield county farmers begins Sept 13 or 14 and will end as soon as possible. Demand exceeds the 35 000 lb allotment. many orders cannot be filled. Distribution is planned evenly across towns with advance notice to farmers for pickup points.
A Bayfield County advisory board was elected at a last Friday meeting at the YMCA. Officers include Chairman C E Hulton Vice Chairman Frank W Downs Treasurer Roy Markham and Secretary Amos M Hansen Directors are Judge Axelberg Dr Axley A W MacLeod and W A Robinson. The board will relay local cases to Salvation Army headquarters to better target services while emphasizing prevention over cure.
The big barn at Archie Bowman farm in Washburn was fatally destroyed by a Tuesday fire. Miss Clara Peterson daughter of Mr and Mrs Pete Peterson and Mr Harry H Nord of Hibbing Minnesota formerly of Ashland were married Friday August 20 at 11 A M Rev D W Davis officiated at the Methodist church. A wedding dinner at the bride home followed and the couple departed for Minneapolis and other points on their wedding trip they will live in Hibbing after September 1. The bride a Washburn High School and Superior Normal School graduate and former Washburn public school teacher is well known locally. The groom a University of Minnesota graduate and mining engineer is a man of sterling worth. Congratulations from many friends.
Premium books for the Bayfield County Fair to be held in Iron River on September 9 10 11 will be ready for distribution late this week. They may be obtained from any Bayfield county newspaper office or by writing to Secretary E F Daniels Iron River Wis. The year’s premium book is larger and prizes are higher than last year.
