CLEW TO EXPRESS ROBBERY ENVELOPES FOUND AT TREATY
A bundle of twenty large envelopes with broken sealing wax was found by William Wolgamath at the sawmill on the carrier at Treaty Indiana. The envelopes bore express company markings and dated August 19. They reportedly contained about $18,000 shipped on the Burlington line between Omaha and Chicago. The Wabash agent disputes the claim, suggesting the robbers who attacked the Burlington train may have rifled the contents at Treaty to divide the spoils.
