Lessons from a Youthful Worker and Patriot Memorial
A youth hired at a department store for three dollars a week is praised for honesty and potential advancement, while a minor theft ends his rise. The essay urges integrity as the true capital for future leadership, warns against opportunistic scheming, and calls for persistent civic and patriotic education, especially among youth, aided by courts and the press. Memorial Day observances are praised as lessons in patriotism, with emphasis on teaching duty, sacrifice, and love of country to the younger generation for the preservation of free institutions.
