Board of Education Elects Truant Officer and Commencement Plans
The county board held its semi annual meeting in the county superintendent office and set the countywide commencement for Saturday June 4 at Winona Park with addresses by Ir. Kb. Bowser and Walter Brubaker and band music by the Warsaw group. J W H Neukum of Milford won the truant officer election over R W Sutelis of Warsaw. Wayne Anglin did not seek re election after three years in office. A relic from 1852 was shown, a teacher contract from Rachel McCleary for a 13 week quarter starting January 1853, paying nineteen dollars and hints of housing and fuel for the teacher.

Samuel O Thomas died suddenly of heart trouble last Friday near Leesburg at age 51. Born in the county, he lived here all his life, son of the late Edward and Ellen Thomas. Survived by wife, four daughters Minerva Edna Mary and Helen, and one son Edward, and one brother A J Thomas of Lees.

Encampment Preparations for Grand Army Event in Warsaw
Preparations proceed for the Grand Army encampment in Warsaw and Winona June 14 to 16. Flag day events include a school flag presentation, patriotic exercises, and a grand parade with many veterans in the ranks. Citizens urged to decorate homes and streets along the parade route to honor the county and city.

Pomona Grange Initiates 50 Members in Fifth Degree
Last Thursday Pomona Grange initiated 50 candidates from Leesburg Claypool Warsaw and Silver Lake into the fifth degree. The ceremony was conducted by Pomona’s regular degree team and directed by Mrs J B Fogle whose drill at Pomona’s court enhanced the impression of the occasion.

Pfleiderer Kinch wed in Warsaw residence ceremony
James B. Pfleiderer and Ada Kinch were married Saturday evening at the home of the officiating clergyman Rev. C A Spitier April 30. They will reside on South Columbia street in Warsaw and have the good wishes of friends. William Conrad was elected grand patron of the Eastern Star in Indianapolis last week, a longtime Mason and Eastern Star leader.
