SAD CASE OF DESTITUTION IN HARRISON TOWNSHIP
A family of Geo Scott in Harrison township lived for 15 years in a one room shanty with green boards and a ruined roof. Eight children under 15 and a baby were found nearly unclothed with little food or fuel. Sheriff Smith relocated them to the county farm as guardians moved to aid. Neighbors had offered work and aid, but the father refused to work, prompting indignation at his neglect. The board of children’s guardians acted to provide care for the family. Also listed are prize winners in a Globe Closing Co. voting contest across Warsaw area townships and wards, each receiving a gold watch.
