LOCK HAVEN September 12 Even the railroad trains are not safe from hit and run drivers in Penn fhe Locomotive of the Eapt xpress was badly damaged near MeEthalian when an automobile rammed the engine breaking a piston and valve. The emergency brake was applied and the engine stopped with the last car at the crossing. the motorist escaped before a license could be obtained. The train was delayed 40 minutes.

The Apahi newspaper reported a tidal wave striking Kyushu island, destroying two villages named Okishin and Sumiyoshi and killing upwards of 1,000. The Pride of Detroit seaplane is at Omura airfield near Nagasaki. Earlier dispatches noted severe storms across the island.

An important step in preparation for the annual Christmas Seal drive will be taken Friday September 16 at the Warren YWCA beginning at ten o’clock. In a separate report, two linemen narrowly escaped death in Shamokin when a high pole snapped.
