A Warren built motor yacht Conewango, owned by David Beaty of Warren, burned and sank at Pompano Inlet near Fort Lauderdale, Florida, becoming a total loss. The 40 foot vessel, launched in Warren, had earlier survived a 1926 hurricane and journeyed via inland waterways to the Gulf of Mexico before meeting disaster off Florida.

Under a pact by the United States Bureau of Mines and the National Petroleum Association, Warren Refining plant workers may take free first aid instruction. Led by Harry R. Burdelsky and Joseph Ferraro from Pittsburgh, sessions run daily at the Warren Y M C A from 4 to 6 and 7 to 9 o clock, excluding weekends, with five consecutive two hour attendances required for a certificate.
Senator Henry E. Lantina of Harrisburg will speak at the Warren Lions Club meeting at the YMCA. His topic is Prevention of Blindness and Welfare work for blind people. The meeting, moved to Wednesday at 12:15 PM, accommodates his northwestern Pennsylvania tour.
Emory Cook secretary of the Warren Chamber of Commerce issued a three point statement denying the chamber failed to secure the viscose silk mill for Warren. He cited water quality and land limits, noting Warren offered $50,000 toward a site and rail access but no suitable location existed above Glade bridge. The plant was finally located elsewhere. Resumed capacity at Farrell plant sites to 30 smelters this week.
Washington March 20 The house agriculture committee approved the equalization fee of the McNary Haugen bill despite President Coolidge objections by a 13 to 8 vote. Chairman Haugen said the bill will likely receive a favorable report to the house tomorrow.
Marines launched air raids against Sandino forces near Murra, 36 miles north of El Chipote, delivering repeated waves of high explosive bombs. Reports say 800 rebels were killed in past engagements, with current strikes described as heavier than any since last July, as Marine planes targeted open terrain and inflicted severe casualties. Captain France Pierce was wounded in the foot.
Real estate owned by C. F. Bartsch was sold to C. L. Knabb of 1109 Pennsylvania Avenue East for 22500 in a private sale Tuesday morning in the office of T. L. Hampson referee in bankruptcy. The property at 31 83 and 25 Pennsylvania Avenue East will be remodeled to include several living apartments, a plan Bartsch confirmed months ago.
