A West End child suffered serious burns when clothing caught fire. The incident occurred as efforts continued across the nation over the Democratic presidential nomine. Leaders urged unity and discussed the party's stance on prohibition, calling for a dry conference in Asheville to organize opposition to the nominee.
Joseph Font Jr. five, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Font, 904 Pennsylvania Ave. W, is in serious condition at Warren General Hospital from burns received while at play. His head, right side, and both arms were badly burned. Attending physician is Dr. Hugh Robertson. Font was playing Indian game with East Side youngsters when clothes caught fire. he was rushed to hospital after flames were extinguished.
Charles Adams son of Constable and Mrs. Fred Adams on Pennsylvania Avenue East drank one ounce of turpentine Friday night. Dr. L. E. Chapman attended him and reported he became ill but not seriously. He recovered to normal health by Saturday morning.

Sunbury June 30 Thousands of gallons of crude oil flooded streets in the lower Sunbury area when a pipeline linking Philadelphia and Pittsburgh burst. The spill was halted by a valve closing at Dornsife and repairs completed within hours by Lock Haven workmen. Police guarded the pit to keep pedestrians away from ignition sources.
Detroit air Olympics open with 24 planes starting a 6300 mile reliability tour for 14000 dollars and the Edsel Ford cup. Mrs Phoebe Fairgrave Oflie of Memphis pilots the first flight amid 5000 at Ford Airport. The field expected 100000 for finals and aerial circus under Major Lanphier. The trek visits Indianapolis St Louis San Antonio San Diego Tacoma Spokane and St Paul before returning to Detroit. Edsel Ford waved the start.
The Boy Scout drum corps joins the booster parade plans for Monday. Members report at First Presbyterian Church on Monday afternoon at 4:30 with instruments. Elizabeth Greenland Beck formerly of Warren died in an auto train collision in St. Petersburg Florida. Her husband Edward T Beck and two daughters survive. She was born December 26 1878 in Warren and was a Warren High School graduate and First Presbyterian church member.
Middle Tennessee recovered from Franklin Storms that caused five deaths in 24 hours, flooded Nashville, and burst the Burgess power dam at Cookeville on the Cumberland plateau rim. Johnstown, Colo reported six people missing from a tornado path south of town, feared to push toll toward ten.

Greensburg June 30 Gen Edward Martin state GOP chairman urged a sharp campaign against the Democratic platform adopted at Houston. He said it appeals to personal prejudices and called on Republicans to unite behind the national, state and local ticket. He urged electing 36 militant Republican congressmen from Pennsylvania and said voters should back the entire ticket. The talk opened before the Westmoreland Republican county committee as the creel continued on page eight.

Mrs Pred C Eaton of Warren and Mrs Harry E Cassidy of Titusville drove into each other at a crossroads near Camp Mareresson Canadchta Lake as Mrs Cassidy turned from pavement to a dirt road. May Peebles Laura Kellog suffered cuts from glass with Kellog also injuring her shoulder. Passengers included Helen Cassidy Kem fall and Elizabeth Armagast in the Titusville car en route to the lake and Pittsburgh bound Mrs Eaton in a Franklin.
