Prohibition Debate Divides Convention Factions
The Day of Prayer coverage notes Gov. Smith’s opposition to prohibition and the dry-wet split within the convention. It highlights Smith's camp aiming for an early nomination and a strong law enforcement plank, while supporters argue his stance is a reiteration. Elizabeth Marbury’s remarks intensify the dispute, suggesting state discretion on enforcement. Cordell Hull voices against amending the Volstead act.
