Lawrence Deppa Quality Cash traveling manager escaped serious harm with only minor bruises while Fred W Jewell motorman said Deppa failed to heed warning whistles. Plead Guilty To Theft Of Engine From Lumber Company
Allen Holtenbaugh and Charles Harkens of Sheffield pleaded guilty before Judge Aritd to stealing a locomotive owned by Central Pennsylvania Lumber Company on June 22 for a joy ride. They will be sentenced July 12 after admitting taking the locomotive while it rested with banked fires in the yard of the Tionesta Valley Railroad at Tionesta, leaving it on the main track at Martins Station near Sheffield where railroad workers found it later. Officials noted the locomotive was abandoned after the theft.

Car Hits Railing On Overhead Crossing Injures Two
A Buick sedan driven by J M Milligan and his wife from New Jersey crashed into the left railing of the Scott overhead crossing on the Warren Youngsville road after a right front tire blew. They escaped serious injury with minor shock. the car was badly damaged and towed for repairs. This followed a previous similar accident three weeks earlier at the same crossing, where a car plunged to the road-bed below killing three and injuring four.

Five Killed in Southern Storm
Five people died and five were injured by lightning during electrical storms in North Carolina and Georgia. Three New Orleans boys and a 45 year old man perished near a Hendersonville camp in North Carolina, two others were hurt. A six year old boy died in La Grange, Georgia, and his sister was seriously injured. In Macon, Georgia, two people were hurt by lightning. Rescue of Italia crew chief Lundborg in Arctic ice camp
