McCurry a 51 year old special deputy sheriff was critically wounded by Frank Wingard 40 a non union miner at the Union Colliers Coal Co mine near Trenton after McCurry removed Wingard from a Renton residence County detectives said Wingard stabbed him during the incident and McCurry was hospitalized in critical condition.

Col Charlies A Lindbergh says his future plans are uncertain include a home coming flight over St Louis today and a flight over his old air mail route to Chicago next week while maintaining an advisory role with the Guggenheim fund and gifting the Spirit of St Louis to the Smithsonian. He noted the aircraft has flown 481 hours since leaving San Diego and remains in perfect condition though he has not fixed a relinquishment date. An air mail round trip completed in 103 hours 35 minutes, while the train took 201 hours 34 minutes.
