Coast guard reports a deadly clash 32 miles east of Fort Lauderdale Florida between guards and rum runners. Treasury agent Webster and boatswain Landerlin were killed. seaman Hollingsworth and machinist Lamby were wounded, Lamby possibly fatally. Two rum runners Alderman and Weech wounded. Cutter headed to shore for aid.

In Boston police dispersed 10,000 sympathizers on the common while New York and other cities prepare for strikes and mass actions.
