A two story frame home near Bish Four, Blair County, Blair Four hamlet, burned early today after a wedding celebration. Thirteen people including Kretachalk's daughter, her husband, five children, six guests, and Mrs. Kretchalk died. Neighbors could not enter to rescue the occupants. fire protection was unavailable. authorities fear more deaths as others were believed in the house.
Despondent over job failure, George Hunter, 60, a coal miner, shot himself to death today in his Salineville residence near East Liverpool Ohio. He left no note and the tragedy occurred about midday, authorities said.

Warren County faces a potential rural school teacher shortage this fall. Approximately one hundred applications arrived at county superintendent G. S. Knapp from teachers across New York and neighboring states. Knapp notes interest increased after Warren newspapers highlighted the shortage. The law restricts graduates from high school and summer normal courses from teaching next fall, alleviating the problem.
Volunteers of America received $227 from Heart Tag Day held here on Saturday under Miss Laura D Miller. First prize went to Katherine McFarland with $23.76 in tags, followed by Marie McFarland $20.65, Gwendolyn Kagener $13.27, and Katharine Kehm Virginia Peterson and Adelaide Still sharing further prizes as other children earned awards for faithful work.
In Congress today the Senate resumes debate on the naval appropriation bill as the Antératate commerce committee restarts coal investigations. The Agriculture sub committee resumes cotton investigations while the House considers several small bills on the unanimous consent calendar. The Agriculture committee continues hearings on the Vinson bill regulating cotton futures trading.
C. H. Salty Killian a Warren native and Pennsylvania state highway patrol sergeant was injured Sunday when his patrol motorcycle collided with a stalled car on the Susquehanna highway near New Buffalo Pennsylvania. He was rushed to determine injuries and is believed to have a broken foot. The motorcycle was heavily damaged.
Authorities hunt three of five prisoners who escaped the Clarion county jail overnight. Sheriff Sloan was assaulted during the breakout and his wife tried to deter the escape with a tear gas bomb, but failed. Suspects Nimmd of Pennsylvania and Drwmond of DuBois were captured. others Benosko of Helvetia and Kildutl of Punxsutawney remain at large.
Governor John Fisher plans a private stop in Warren on Tuesday while en route to inspect the State Hospital at North Warren. He will travel with staff and a state patrol detachment, with no planned public receptions or ceremonies to align with his office’s wishes.
In Punxsutawney Pennsylvania on April 16 the body of Mrs Minnie Shaffer was found suspended from a rope in a wash house behind her home in Woyethville near here. Her husband Abraham Shaffer later killed himself on January 6 by self inflicted means after attempting to end his life.

George Luin of Schenectady wins spot to present to the New York state Democratic committee tomorrow the resolution to formally place Governor Alfred E. Smith before the nation as the Democratic presidential nominee. An East campaign for Frank Lowden’s Republican bid begins with a New York executive committee appointment, and Dr. Arthur P. Keegan of Philadelphia says Smith’s nomination could make Pennsylvania a swing state in November.
Depositors and official bank personnel attended an informal open house as Warren Savings Bank and Trust moved the loan equipment into its new quarters. Builders rearranged the banking floor, replacing teller cages with waist high counters to create a spacious and cheerful atmosphere. Completion of remaining improvements is expected within a short time.
A Bar on von Huenefeld asked the German consul in Montreal for landing and refueling facilities on Greenly Island and in Montreal. Duke Schiller left Greenly Island with Captain James Fitzmaurice aboard the Bremen to begin a return to civilization, while Von Huenefeld and Captain Koehl remained with their aircraft. Miss Herta Junkers and two colleagues flew toward Montreal aboard the Bremen, awaiting word from Greenly Island on repairs and the crew.
Warren County fishermen flocked to streams Monday for the trout opener despite unusually cold conditions. Many left Sunday to reach favorite spots at dawn and reports by Monday afternoon noted several catches, though most were small as the cold affected biting.
