Warren Women’s Christian Temperance Union Holds Speech Contest
At the 87th Warren County WCTU convention held at Grace Methodist Church, three Warren area youths delivered speeches. Mrs. Raymond Mintzer and Dr. Stanton W. Simkins spoke briefly. Medal winners included Karen Tonkin and Lynn Graves with gold and silver honors among finalists.

Borzoi Duo Attract Attention Of Dog Enthusiasts
Mr and Mrs David Ristan of Warren Kinzua Road keep three Borzoi. Nina at four years and Silver sixteen months pose for a photo while Komar and nine other puppies have been sold to buyers in Georgia Michigan Connecticut New York and other states. A planned Borzoi Club of America expansion may lead to shows nationwide with the Ristans’ dogs under consideration. Nina and Silver draw interest from a New England artist and a national dog show judge in Philadelphia. Silver stands 32 inches at the shoulder with 32 to 34 inches typical for fully grown wolves. The dogs have shown primarily at small local events and are described as gentle with children.

Isotope Department Nearing Completion at Warren General Hospital
The radioactive isotope department at Warren General Hospital may be ready by November 1. Construction proceeds in the basement of the Jefferson Pavilion with half the cost funded by the Cancer Society. Hospital use rose in August with 456 admissions and 3,643 patient days, daily census 128, up from last year.
