Kinzua Dam Report Ends With Private Engineers Nod
Private engineers submit five alternative plans for Allegheny Reservoir storage and diversion options. The report finds the Authorized Project adequate for winter flood control and summer low flow, with alternatives costing 25 to 38 percent more and displacing more land and people. Two plans could divert flood waters to Lake Erie, enabling about 115 million kilowatt hours annually at Niagara Falls.
