Operation Old Goat nets opium ring across three Middle East nations
Treasury agent Charles Siragusa spearheaded a five month operation linking Greek Turkish and Lebanese police to seize 765 pounds of opium and 88 pounds of hashish with 13 dope peddlers arrested. The raid stretched from Adana to Beirut and Aleppo culminating in a dramatic capture of Tifankji with Agent X. Siragusa earned the Exceptional Civilian Service Medal and was later knighted by Italy for his undercover triumphs.
