Bruce Matve, a 12 year old from Sugar Grove, won the 1959 Warren Area Soap Box Derby with a 24.1 second run on an 800 foot course at Alexander Street Downs. He defeated his twin Wayne in Class B semi finals and Allen Keller, Class A champion, to qualify for the National Soap Box Derby in Akron, Ohio. His dark blue No. 1 racer was sponsored by Texas Lunch.
