Flood Evacuations Hit Sheffield Area and Surroundings

Ice jams along Kinzua broke loose sending floodwater through Sugar Run and nearby districts. Saybrook Saybrook area Sheffield lowered sectors evacuated while nine people were moved. Brokenstraw river at Youngsville overflowed flooding streets and homes as Irvine and Tidioute faced rising water and power outages spread from Pittsfield to Bear Lake.

Woman Rescued After Night On Her Vehicle In Warren County

A Truamans woman Helen Dunham waitress at Penn Laurel Motel Warren was stranded atop her car near War ren-Forest County line all night and rescued by State Police and Sheffield Volunteer Firemen about 8 am Thursday. Officials took her to Barnes then War ren General Hospital. Floods worsened by fog disrupted Route 6 with water coverage and clogged storm sewers. Ice jams on Jackson Run caused homes to flood near Midtown Motors and evacuations on Victor Street. Two families were rescued near Youngsville as Brokenstraw Creek rose, flooding basements and an athletic field.
