March of Dimes Drives On To Aid Polio Fight
County volunteers open the 1956 March of Dimes drive as polio patients still rely on iron lungs and costly long term care. National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis notes the need to fund treatment, research, and 14 respirator centers to restore breathing and improve lives. The campaign seeks at least 47.6 million dollars with efforts continuing through January 31.
