Sylvania TV awards highlight 1956 honors list

NBC won twelve awards CBS eight and ABC three at the Sylvania 1956 TV awards held December 6 at New York's Plaza hotel. Critics named The Bachelor Best musical production and The Long Way Home Best human interest program, with Requiem for a Heavyweight earning multiple acting honors for Jack Palance and Ed Wynn. Additional honors covered Ed Sullivan Show Best variety program, See It Now special, Captain Kangaroo best network children's program, and other category winners across drama, comedy, and educational programming.
