On Saturday morning near Rushville Indiana Richard Bowling aged 78 killed a burglar who had broken in through a kitchen window. The intruder fired shots and threatened the couple but was struck and killed by Bowling with a swift blow to the head. The thief lay dead by a bureau and the coroner later viewed the body in Rushville.
