The New York Association for the Improvement of the Condition of the Poor launches a nationwide health campaign this week to curb infant illness from flies. A two year study reports 18 000 observations show nearly twice as many infants fall ill in homes with no fly screening compared to homes free of flies.
Cortland Brooks of Greenport L I endured hiccoughing for more than nine months before dying at home. Doctors attributed the spasms to spinal tuberculosis with a crumbling bone pressing nerves. An operation was deemed unfeasible and a plaster cast was used to brace the spine. His funeral fell on his 31st birthday.
James Hennessey of York Pennsylvania, a retired wallpaper manufacturer, tried bee sting therapy. Police officer John Oerman, bee owner, attempted treatment but lacked license. Bees stung Hennessey in hoped for relief while some stings hit Oerman and uninjured areas.

He allegedly married Lora Carpenter eleven years ago separated two years later and, in April 1914, wed Hattie Goehner without divorce. He admits the second marriage saying a church deacon urged it before a divorce.
United States foresters search Estes Park region for Thornton R. Sampson professor of church history at the Texas Presbyterian Theological Seminary Austin. Sampson left Denver August 11 and has been missing about two weeks. His wife Mrs. Sampson stayed in Denver and appealed to forestry officials.
Connellsville Pa September 15 only one Bull Moose remains in the city after the vets registration closed on Saturday. This year 1847 qualified voters while 1971 did so last year. Party tallies show 1215 Republicans 505 Democrats and the remainder Socialists Prohibitionists Non-Partisan and one Bull Moose.
